Smoking May Turn Men Bald

Yes, research has shown that smoking cigarettes may cause hair loss in men. The study that was conducted on 700 Taiwanese men aged 40 and above revealed that the more a man smokes, the worse his baldness is likely to be.

Further analysis of the results showed that the risk of hair loss increased with advancing age, but remained lower in case of men who were not smokers. Research also showed that those who smoked 20 cigarettes or more a day were more than twice as likely to have moderate or severe hair loss as those who had never smoked.

The researchers said smoking may damage the genetic structure of the hair follicles, the tiny structures responsible for hair growth.

Baldness actually develops very gradually, normally starting with the appearance of a bald spot in the crown of the scalp and thinning of the temples.

Although it can strike at any time, but many men experience it as they increase their cigarette intake since the age of 30s.

Smoking has also started affecting the young generation men and women as they also have started complaining about loosing hair and their hair becoming thin day by day.
Researchers say that if people take up smoking right from their teenage than they will start getting bald even before they reach 50.

Although there is no permanent cure to hair loss still people are resorting to lotions, tablets, and hair transplantation. But one thing that can cure or stop hair fall and baldness is to quit smoking.
