Smoking makes more teems vulnerable to alcohol. This has been revealed by a study made by Richard Grucza, an epidermiologist at Washington University School of Medicine, St Louis. The findings are published in the December 2006 issue of Alcoholism Clinical and Experimental Research.
Teenagers are more prone to addiction. As compared to nonsmoker teens who consumed alcohol, those who took alcohol and smoked were more prone to alcohol use drug disorders. The risk was quite high among young teens who were light drinkers.
Smoking and drinking among U.S. youth were epidemics and pediatric diseases of serious nature. This was due to early life conditions and behaviors. Teen smoking and consumption of alcohol is a sign of early life health problems. Unlike adults, teens get easily dependent upon nicotine. The more early a teenager starts smoking, the more susceptibility of his brain is to other addictions.
Efforts should be on to reduce smoking among teens who are vulnerable to the use of alcohol. The problem has deep roots in their early life upbringing, and parents have a responsibility that this should not happen.
