Fertility In Women Affected By Passive Smoking

Women who have been exposed to smoke as adults or as children run a 68 % more risk of having fertility problems than others.These women have the possibility of having miscarriage and a huge difficulty to conceive, a study said.

About The Study

Luke J Peppone,researcher at James P Wilmot Cancer Center, Rochester said that the statistics certainly points to a danger of passive smoking.They are thoroughly breath taking.

In this study 4,800 women had volunteered. None of them were smokers.The scientists found that women who had been exposed to passive smoking for at least six hours each day are at a massive fertility problems.The team had found out that 4 out of 5 women reported exposure to passive smoking during their entire lifetime.
50 percent of them were brought up in homes with smoker parents and almost 75 percent of these women had been exposed to passive smoking while the survey was going on.
In addition to this, more than 40 percent of these women suffered repeated miscarriages or faced increased odds of infertility.

Women are biologically more vulnerable to the ill effects of passive smoking so they have to take the extra care to save themselves from it.We already have the knowledge that cigarettes and even passive smoking are very harmful. Breathing smoke has long lasting ill effects, more so for women when they are ready to have children– feels Peppone after analysing data in the Patient Epidemiology Data System.
